A book is silent.
Yes it can, and often does, have dialog. Heck, specific sounds are often described for the reader. But at the end of the day unless you’re listening to the audiobook… a book is silent.
But that’s not how I experienced writing Shepherds of Lost Things. I heard music the whole time. I would listen to songs to get a vibe feeling for a scene as I played out all the events in my head. Other times I’d let a song repeat while I worked on writing an outline of a chapter. Always music was there in the background.
So I want to share some, not all, of the songs that helped inspire the book. Since there are so many options for music I’m just offering up two places to find the playlist (Apple Music or Spotify).
