As the year comes to a close a quick update on what’s on deck for next year.
THE LAST SHEPHERDS
Work on the trilogy continues as I try to finish the rough draft of the sequel by the end of winter. It’s been slower than I expected, but now that I’m about 20% of the way there the pace has been picking up. Because I’m self publishing I can spend the spring working on revising the draft ahead of a late summer release.
I’ve started sketching out the final book in the trilogy, but at this time I can’t commit to a 2026 release. Honestly, pushing to hit 2025 for the second book has been harder than I anticipated. I know how it all ends, which feels like half the battle. In less exciting reveals, I think I’m going to change the title of the last book. More on that next fall.
VAMPIRE DETECTIVE AGENCY
The fifth draft just needs a few sentences cleaned up, and then it’s ready for a final test reader to sign off on things. I’ll be sending the book out to publishers for consideration early next year. It turned out to be a fun pulpy paranormal investigative romance tale in the end, and I think readers will enjoy the heck out of it. I’ve got more stories in this universe to tell, and if response is good I’ll continue this as a full blown series.
AFTER ALL THAT
After I finish the second Shepherds book, and in between Vampire Detective cases, I’m going to start in on a new stand alone novel. No more trilogies for a while. It may be one of these idea’s I’ve been kicking around: DEBT BOMB, a story about a man seeking revenge on debtors who drove his wife to suicide, or THINGS A WOMAN COUNTS, about a young woman who’s faith is tested when she heads to a small university to pursue a masters in mathematics, or IMPROBABLE IMPOSSIBILITIES, the story of a person with godlike powers told through the point of views of those around them over the course of a year that changes everything.
